A Monster Calls
Based on the novel by Patrick Ness and inspired by an original idea by Siobhan Dowd,
devised by Sally Cookson, Adam Peck and the Company
August 11 & 12 @ 7:00 PM

Tormented by the same dream every night, Conor finds himself struggling with the news of his mother’s illness. Ever since she started the treatments that don't quite seem to be working, Conor finds himself in the principal’s office, at odds with his grandma and even visited by his distant father; whose second family really needs him back in New York. But tonight is different. Tonight, when Connor wakes, there's a visitor at his window. It's ancient, elemental, a force of nature. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor; the truth. Don't miss this moving stage adaptation about the importance of acceptance, and the challenges of grief and loss.

(Auditions are Tuesday, May 16th at 1:30PM in CSHS Room 144)

Antigone
by Sophocles
October 19 & 21 @ 7:00 PM

War has broken out in the ancient town of Thebes and the children of Oedipus find themselves at odds with each other and society. As the war consumes all aspects of life, Oedipus’ only two sons find themselves on opposites sides of the conflict. But when the dust settles, both brothers lay dead in the dirt and a decree is passed that only one, Eteocles, should be given a proper burial. Yet when their sister Antigone is caught illegally burying her other brother Polynices and is brought before the court, a moral dilemma descends upon Thebes like a plague. The struggle between what is right and what is wrong is the central theme of the Greek Tragedy of Antigone, an epic story of a woman who stands up and dares to ask: is it ever appropriate to be disobedient?

The Drowsy Chaperone
Music and Lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison - Book by Bob Martin & Don McKellar
Feb 22 to Mar 2 @ 7:00 PM

When wealthy widow Mrs. Tottenham hosts the wedding of the year, she gets a lot more than a write-up in the society pages: Janet Van de Graaff, glittering starlet of Feldzieg’s Follies, is leaving the stage for love, a turn of events which horrifies the angry and anxious Mr. Feldzieg, whose chief investor has sent two gangsters disguised as pastry chefs to make sure the wedding is called off. Such are the antics of The Drowsy Chaperone, a fictitious 1928 musical comedy. This magical piece of meta-theatre and playful, heartfelt parody of the 1920s musical comedy features a chirpy jazz age score and a lively, clever book. You won't want to miss this riot of a musical!
